Detoxing in our day and age is very important. With all of the toxins that we take in it’s vital that we find some way of ridding ourselves of them as much as possible. Toxins in our bodies can cause a lot of health issues. Everyone’s body is different so it may manifest differently for everybody. But the bottom line is we need to keep our insides as clean as possible.
A diet change is basically as simple as taking some things out and putting some new things in. A diet change can be hard at first because we become accustomed to the things that we normally already eat. If you have never taken any regard to what you eat it can be most difficult but also most rewarding. When you take control over your diet you really start to feel more powerful and in control of your life. Rather than restricting us it actually can free us.
So to get into the nitty gritty. Here is a detox plan and a diet plan that I propose to anyone who wants to get started. It is important to note that the diet can be modified a bit over time. After you detox it is ok to introduce a few things back into your diet. Lets go over some of the foods that you should EXCLUDE from your diet.
- Red Meat/Dirty Meat
- Greasy Foods/Deep Fried Foods
- Fast Food
- White Flour
Sugar comes in so many different forms. Candy, soda, baked deserts, pastries, juice, fruit, and etc. It is important to recognize what has sugar in it. Sugar is hard for the body to deal with. Even natural sugars found in fruits and fruit juices. For now you are going to want to cut ALL sugar out of your diet.
Dairy is extremely hard to digest and really shouldn’t be consumed in general. Dairy is a hard one to cut out cause we find it in so many different foods. From the obvious things like a cheeseburger or pizza to the not-so-obvious like breads or crackers. It’s important to check the ingredients labels on whatever you purchase to make sure that it doesn’t have any milk. Watch out for whey and milk protein. If it has whey then don’t buy it. Buying bread can be tough but there are brands that make it without milk or whey. You just have to look over everything that you buy.
Red meats are hard to digest. They require the body to do extra work to process them. Avoid any red meats and any pork. Your body needs it’s energy to work on ridding the body of toxins not on trying to digest these meats. These can slowly be introduced back into your diet after a few months. But give it time and don’t overload yourself.
We all know that greasy and fried foods are bad for us. Their is a huge list of reasons NOT to have fried foods. They clog arteries and cause heart issues, are bad for cholesterol levels, are bad for your brain, load you up with toxins and etc. See the websites I reference for more information. There are some good oils to cook in which I will go over later.
Fast foods are terrible for your body. They are loaded with trans fats and sodium. Fast food is very hard for your body to deal with and it comes with very little nutritional value. If something is going to be hard on your body then it better be FULL of natural vitamins and minerals or else you are just wreaking havoc on your body.
White flour is terrible for you. It turns into sugar very quickly in the body and has very little nutritional value. It’s wheat but stripped of what was beneficial in it, the bran and the germ. White flour is heavily processed and is bleached to make it appear whiter. It’s very hard on your body and can be a large factor in diabetes.
We have quickly gone over what to take out of your diet. I know this sounds overwhelming but it’s very important. You don’t have to do it all at once but I recommend making a start. There is a lot more that can be studied about the negative health effects of these foods. It’s pretty easy to just google them and do some reading. Especially with google on our mobile devices.
Now lets talk about some things that you should put in your diet (if you aren’t already eating them). Remember that this is a diet for detoxing and things can be balanced a little better after a few months of being extremely strict. You should never go back to eating most of the things on the list above but a tiny break once in a great while can be ok if you have the ability to control yourself. The idea of this diet is also for your to have a forever life change. Not so you can detox then go back to eating garbage again.
- Green Leafy Vegetables
- Organic whole grains
- Coconut Oil
We all know that green leafy vegetables are good for you. Of course they aren’t the most appetizing and our taste buds don’t leap for joy with the thought of them but the rest of our bodies do. Green leafy vegetables are generally very easy to digest and are loaded with important nutrients and minerals that help our body detox. They are the most important thing to add to any diet in general if you want to be healthy. Some very good ones to eat large quantities of are Kale and Spinach.
Chicken, Turkey and Fish are all much easier to digest than red meats and still pack you with good amounts of protein. Chicken is very popular among weight lifters because it’s so easy to digest but still brings that pack of protein to help rebuild muscle.
There are many claims that whole grains are bad for you. I beg to differ. Maybe if you are eating a ton of GMO whole grains it could be bad. Modern science can’t seem to make up it’s mind about what is healthy and what is not. One minute they say something is super good for your health and then the next the come back and say it isn’t and so forth. This is happening all of the time. It’s quite frustrating. I’m not a scientist but I can tell you that organic whole grains are good for you from my experience. I eat a lot of them and I feel great. Not to mention this non-sense about gluten being bad for you. Gluten is simply the protein found in wheat products and has zero cholesterol. Some people may have sensitivities but that is largely due to GMOs and we all have food sensitivities to certain things because our bodies are all different. You just have to listen to your body.
Avocados are slipping into the health world. They are starting to be recognized for their many health benefits. They are loaded with vitamins, healthy fats, potassium, and fiber. They are starting to be recognized as a super food and for good reason.
Coconut oil is one of God’s greatest gifts to us. Coconut oil is an incredibly healthy substitute to your traditional oils. It’s great to cook with, use as a buttery spread instead of butter, or even supplement. It’s important to get organic extra virgin coconut oil. I’m not going to go into all the details here but you should read this article about coconut oil, http://draxe.com/coconut-oil-benefits/ http://draxe.com/coconut-oil-benefits/
Anytime you can get organic non-GMO then that is the best way to go. Our bodies need to be as close to the earth as possible. The earth produces naturally the things that we need to heal our bodies. For some reason mankind thinks they can one-up God and make better foods than him. It’s important to understand that the earth easily provides the things that we need to eat. There are many different foods we can eat and if we are lacking in certain minerals and vitamins then we should add to our diet foods that are high in those specific vitamins.
Drink only water and nothing else. Adding a small amount of lemon juice to your water can be ok but the point is that you are only drinking water. No soda, juice, or “healthy” substitutes like vitamin waters or Sobe life waters. Just water.
There’s definitely going to be some things I missed. It is important to do some research on your own as well. I would remain extremely strict on taking the above mentioned foods out of your diet and add the others mentioned. After a few months it can be ok to break the rules every once in awhile. Especially if you can get organic grass fed beef. Over time you will also be able to tell what is dirty and bad for you or what is clean and good for you. You can taste and feel the difference that it has on your body. Listen to your body. Be careful and eat clean!
I have practiced this diet on my own and it has been extremely beneficial for me. I have so much energy compared to my younger years. Exercising is easier and my mind is so much clearer. I have more patience for things because my body is under so much less duress. Diet is so important to help us in the way we feel everyday.
This diet can help with many things like diabetes, weight loss, acne of all forms, lack of energy or constant fatigue, ADHD, depression, and so on…
